Now that you're in your new home, the first thing you're going to want to do is to start unpacking so that you can give it your own personal touch. It's important, however, that you take care when unpacking and be sure to adopt an unpacking system. How do you do it? Make a list. Most people go for unpacking items for the bedroom and kitchen first - I recommend the same.
There's a couple important things that you'll want to cover after you move.
Most importantly, make sure that all your essential appliances function properly. The last thing you want to do is have to use the microwave and have it not work. Also, make sure that all the other utilities in your new place work as well.
If you hired a professional moving service to help you with your moving, make sure you have all the proper papers in order. Properly file all your moving receipts, contracts, and insurance documents. Don't forget to hold on to your moving service payment receipt.
If you have children, you'll want to make sure you have all new school registration and transfer papers in order. This will ensure that the move from school to school with go smoothly. Don't forget to take a visit to the local library after the move, so you can get memberships for the family.
After moving, it's also important that you make your way over to the local grocery store and mall or other shopping center so you know where they are. You can also use this time to pick up anything you might need back at your new home.
If your bank doesn't have any local branches that are easily accessible for you, you might consider opening a new account at another bank. Transfering accounts is relatively easy to do, as banks are always on the look-out for more customers.
Moving can be a painless process, but in order to make it as easy as possible you'll want to dedicate a fair amount of time to planning. Do this, and everything after the move will be just as easy as during.
